How To Diagnose A Brain Tumor?
Any kind of Cancer is dreadful. Cancerous growth or so called Tumors are very frightening and it becomes more worse when one finds out that the tumor growth is in the brain. Brain tumor is caused due to excessive growth of abnormal cells in the brain of human body. Brain Tumors can be both Benign and Malignant. Benign tumors are the ones which occur in one place of the body and can be removed without affecting any other part of the body. Malignant tumors are more dangerous as they occur in one part of the body and spread to other important parts of the body as well. So, Malignant brain tumors are very much life threatening. Brain tumor can affect a person of any age group and it is also found out that there are about 140 different kinds of tumors which occur in the brain.
Brain tumors are classified into Primary tumors and metastatic brain tumors. The classification is done as per the place of origin of the tumor in the human body. Primary tumors are formed in the brain itself where as metastatic tumors are the ones which spread from one part of body where the tumor has initially formed. It is also said that most of the brain tumors which are caused are metastatic tumors. Some of the tumors which can spread to the brain at a later stage are breast cancer, kidney cancer, and melanoma and lung cancer as well.
There is no specific reason as to why brain tumors are caused but family history, exposure to radiation etc are some of the stated causes. The very common symptoms of brain tumor are nausea, vomiting, memory problems and also change in personality. If any person observes such symptoms he needs to consult a doctor for diagnosis.
The diagnosis of brain tumor initially needs a MRI scan of the brain to be taken to confirm the existence of brain tumor. A Brain biopsy is also needed to confirm the type of brain tumor and this also helps to start the right treatment. As the kind of tumor, the doctor shall suggest the most suitable treatment.
